The St.Agnes Filipino-American Community was organized in January 1995 by a group of Filipino families in response to the Stewardship effort of the parish. St.Agnes Fil-Am Community launched its first project, Kalayaan’95, in commemoration of the Philippine’s independence from 300 years of colonization under Spain. It will be remembered as the first ever celebration of Philippine Independence in the city of Concord. Based on its initial success, Kalayaan became a yearly celebration to this day. The celebration of the Kalayaan event has benefited St.Agnes Church in many ways. Living out the true spirit of “stewardship”, the St.Agnes Fil-Am Community shared its time, talent and treasure as gifts that they gave in return for the many blessings that God has bestowed upon its community.

Over the years, the St.Agnes Fil-Am Community modestly supported local charities, as well as medical missions to the Philippines, the Habitat for Humanity Project and most importantly, the rebuilding of St.Agnes Church’s Ministry Center. It sponsored several events in the parish such as a musical concert entitled “Sing Me a Season”, Lenten Soup Meals, the Shelter program for homeless families, dinners for the senior “STARS” , and Christmas caroling.

As a Standing Committee of the St.Agnes Parish, the St.Agnes Fil-Am Community aligns and supports the ideals and covenant statement of the St.Agnes Church. The mission of the St.Agnes Fil-Am Community is succinct, and that is, to encourage and enhance the participation of the Filipino-Americans in creating an environment of mutual understanding and Christian Life in our community. It depends entirely upon the effort, the spirit of “bayanihan” (synergy), and the stewardship commitment of its members to accomplish its goals. Since its inception, the Fil-Am is very proud of its milestones it has reached as evidenced by the active presence of its members in various parish ministries and committees. The St.Agnes Fil–Am is grateful to the larger community for allowing it to grow and for supporting its full assimilation into the society.

The St.Agnes Fil-Am Community serves as an umbrella organization for other Filipino-led groups such as Kayumanggi Cultural Troupe, Holy Spirit Cursillo Team, Holy Spirit Chorale Group, Santo Nino Group, Divine Mercy Group, and other Fil-Am prayer groups. These groups draw upon each other’s support to carry out its activities, which the St.Agnes Fil-Am encourages in order to unify the community. It is the hope of the St.Agnes Fil-Am communityto continue its mission through the next century, when its children and their children’s children can look back with pride and appreciate the difference that their Filipino-American parents have made in the community where they live.
