The St. Agnes Communications Committee was established early in 2016 by the Pastoral Council as a standing committee intended to improve communications within our parish and improve our outreach to the Concord community.
With the advent of smartphones, texting, Twitter, Facebook, and Snap Chat, our traditional methods of parish communications have some catching up to do. We still need a weekly paper bulletin and we still need to use US Mail to connect with many of our parishioners, but an increasing number of people are focusing their attention online and we need to meet them there.
The Communications Committee, with your help and support, is seeking to present our St. Agnes community in new ways to a much larger audience. We have already received approval from the Pastoral Council to move our Website to a new web host: eCatholic.com. This hosting service is geared toward Catholic parishes and has features which will allow us to more quickly and efficiently update the website. Our goal is to make our website the “go to” place for all parish information.
This is just the first step. Once the new web-site is up and running we can start more extensive communications on other venues to get the Good News out there to people looking for it.
Will better communications help bring our parishioners closer to Christ and closer to their calling as His disciples?
Will better communications be able to bring the Good News to the unchurched living in our own neighborhoods?
We won’t know the answer to these important questions until we give it a try!
Can you help us? The Communications Committee would rather have a lot of volunteers doing a few communication tasks well than a few doing a lot of communications not-so-well. We would first like to set up an e-mail distribution list of parishioners who want to keep in touch and who may be interested in helping in some way. The more the merrier !
If you would like to sign up for this Communications distribution list please email Mike McDermott at
. We will be keeping you informed of our progress and will let you know of volunteer opportunities as they arise.
